THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT - EPISODE 2
The Tribes of Tatooine
Episode two of The Book of Boba Fett dives right into the action with interrogation and investigation of the attempted assassination of Boba Fett. Episode one jumped between the dual timeline to give the audience a good idea of Boba Fett as the crime lord and how he escaped the Sarlacc Pitt. Episode two picks up with the interrogation of an assassin and an in-depth look into Boba’s time with the Tusken Raiders. This episode depicts the dual timeline unfolding a story that will influence Boba’s position as crime lord of Tatooine.
Boba Fett and Bureaucracy
We knew from the first episode that Boba Fett, the hardened bounty hunter turned crime lord, would have to navigate some intricate politics thanks to his new position. Boba is determined to lead through respect and not fear. But this doesn’t appear to be going too well for him. He is attacked by a group of assassins in episode one. While he manages to handle the situation, it is revealed that he and Fennec will face some interesting challenges to their seat of power in the coming episodes. These challenges will come from all fronts:
THE MAYOR,
THE TWINS,
and the Wookie Bounty Hunter BLACK KRRSANTAN.
Introduced in this episode, the Twins are cousins of Jabba the Hutt and have every intention of claiming the position of crime lord of Tatooine.
The Tusken Raiders and Boba Fett
The episode's primary focus is a flashback to Boba Fett's time with Tatooine’s locals, the Tusken Raiders, after escaping from the Sarlacc. He leads the Tusken Raiders on an ambitious train heist when the Pyke Syndicate attacks them. At this moment in the series, we see the first glimpse of Boba’s possible success as a crime lord who inspires respect and not fear from his subjects. After this successful heist, the Tusken Raiders initiate Boba Fett further into their fold by sending a lizard up his nose and setting him off on a dream quest. At the end of the episode, he is initiated as a Tusken Raider. These flashbacks to the Tusken Raiders cause the viewer to wonder if this alliance will be useful when he inevitably needs to defend his position as crime lord against a growing number of enemies. Boba Fett will have a unique hand to play with his connections to the Tusken Raiders when this battle inevitably comes around.
The second episode of The Book of Boba Fett has revealed characteristics of Boba Fett that allow the viewer to recognize the leadership qualities he possesses. This more in-depth exploration of his leadership qualities sets up the storyline for some epic action. Episode two is packed with a wealth of information that will set the tone for the storytelling in the coming episodes.
